I am going to buy Western Digital SN520 NVMe M.2 2230, but my motherboard supports only 2242/2260/2280 sizes. Is screwing m.2 necessary ? Will not screwing it damage itself or motherboard ?

I'm in need of wifi and bluethoot but I don't know if I can put my intel wireless ac 9260 in a m.2 slot on my motherboard. I'm asking for help if it's possible to fit it or I should buy an adaptor. I didn't quite find one on wish or other sites that fits in the m.2 in the mobo.
