The 8700k runs hot (when OC'd you would need a £100 cooler if you push it to the limit) and the gaming performance would be similar to the 8600k anyways, which runs cooler. More budget went to the CPU cooler, so that when you do OC, you can push it to the max. Most titles don't benefit from hyper threading, but the ones that do probably wouldn't be a huge difference considering it has 6 cores. The rest is just small optimizations, M.2 isn't really worth the extra cost as it doesn't really boost performance enough for any gaming application. M.2 is more for SFX builds and workloads where bandwidth is at a premium.

Thanks for the reply, I wouldn't really overclock the CPU as i've never done it before. As for the i5 would this have much longevity? I would like to try a use this build for 2-3 years. I know very little about CPU's and i5 vs i7 but should I try to get an i7 if I could spend a bit more?
