I was looking to upgrade my pc but I was told I might as well just start from scratch.

I was planning to keep my case, disc drive, hard drive and I have a spare copy of windows 7 so those costs are cut.

I ideally want to run my DAW software smoothly and be able to play games at a decent speed

what can people recommend for that budget ?

cheers
Jamie

Using ebuyer.com for costs:

467647 Intel Core i5 4670K Retail Processor £186.63

389658 Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 £97.00

363095 OCZ 500W CoreXStream PSU £33.99

507058 Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3 mATX Motherboard £61.72

525309 Gigabyte GTX 760 OC Windforce 2GB Graphics Card £219.00

With free delivery that would come to £598.34.

I chose 16Gb as you said you were using DAW software. It may be overkill. You could replace it with:

342352 Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Ballistix £50.00

which would then make the total: £551.34
