Most games are 1080p with graphically intense games like gta 5 black ops 3 bf hardline ect but some games are going to be 1440p at 120hz. All games will be maxed out on the settings

It will perform fine at 1080, although I would recommend looking into a different psu, the Corsair CX series isn't the most reliable. A seasonic or xfx at the same price point will be a lot more reliable.

Spend a bit more and you are golden.

Your Chosen PSU was crap, changed it to S12II 620w, much better unit.

With 6500, I added a hyper 212 evo cooler, because you can overclock it and without a decent cooler it is not possible, sure you can buy it later when you are in no mood to tweak your CPU yet.

That psu is very unreliable, and will not be able to carry your 970 very well if at all.

The above will do you well and provide the ability to upgrade your gpu in the future.

If you can squeeze it in an SSD along with your HDD will provide faster load times and boots and can even provide higher performance in some games.

Your hopes of achieving at least 120fps at 1440p on max setting is ambitious, but sadly, is not going to happen. At 1080p depending on the game, you will get close, but you will most likely still be able to reach 120fps at max settings on a game like Gta.
I'm not saying your build is bad, in fact the opposite, just letting you know that you won't be able to reach those speeds. However, I can assure the games will still look great on lower settings and you will be able to reach 120fps even at 1440p.

How about this build, you might not like the different color sceme but for less than 650 pounds, as same performance as your listed build WITH a free tomb raider game, hell it's worth it all.
