So I went to Best Buy and was told that a Dell intel core i5 processor desktop with 12GB of memory, 2TB hard drive, and an operating system of windows 8.1 for $600 is good for gaming and school use. I asked my friend and he suggested building one would be cheaper and I could build a better one.So do I build one or buy one? This is my first time getting a PC so I'm not too sure what to do.

build one your friend knows what hes talking about, and if you don't know how to put a computer together don't be worried. there are a lot of videos on youtube / internet you can watch and learn and its even possible you can maybe ask your friend help you put it together.

no matter what you'll get a better bang for your buck if you build your computer instead of purchasing one that was already built buy a business. usually what they do is throw a nice case with like 2 good parts and cheap out on all the other parts. mean while when building your own rig you'll be able to do what you want use what you want and when things go sour and parts stop working you'll know how to replace the part and find out whats not working etc.
