I picked up a new set of RAM and a new GPU for my computer just to upgrade it, but none of it worked. Got black screens, tons of errors. Figured my only realistic option to fix it was flash the bios. Well now the bios flash didn’t work. Tried multiple versions, different thumb drives, different USB ports, always the same error: “ROM Binary is corrupt”. I don’t know what to do anymore I need some help here. Apparently no one in the history of computers has ever had this issue because I spent hours scouring the internet and found nothing to help my case.

My motherboard is an MSI X99-S SLI Plus, running the same bios as when I purchased it back in late 2014. CPU is i7 5820k but I don’t think that’s important.

Also yes that’s the one I’m trying to install. Same motherboard same bios update. It just won’t do it. Spoke to an MSI rep who knew nothing of what she was talking about and kept telling me it was a CPU issue which is absurd because my computer works just fine, just that the new hardware is incompatible.

Yikes. Am I gonna have to solder it back on or is it just a quick swap? That sounds like a tough deal.
Modern boards usually have socketed BIOS chips. No soldering required.

But I just noticed... your board has dual BIOS and a BIOS switch. See page 1-33 of the board's manual. It explains recovery if you can't update the BIOS (apparently). You may not need to mess with replacing a BIOS chip.
