Hello,

Yesterday i plugged in a new steelseries arctis nova 7 headset into my pc (coming from turtle beach). At first the pc didn't seem to recognize it but after putting it in a different usb socket it recognized the headset and worked for a bit..
Thats when the blue screens started and keeps repeating every few minutes.
I'm not sure what to do about it as i dont have much time inbetween blue screens.

Any help is very much appreciated and thank you in advance!

Here's the dumpfile:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ySasntLCQ89BT3QKvxPWqvMiBjVQQP06/view?usp=sharing

PC Specs
Mobo: Gigabyte B850 Eagle
CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X
GPU: XFX Speedster Merc 7800 XT
RAM: 32GB DDR5 - 6000mhz
PSU: 750w Gold

Have you uninstalled the Steelseries software yet?
I haven't installed any software for steelseries yet other than maybe a driver when i plugged it in?
Though it seems like some usb port encountered a problem as the first 3.1 socket didn't "see" the headset on plugin where as the second usb did and problems started a few minutes after.

I also wouldn't know where to find the thing that may have been installed on plug in.

Did you plug into a front panel or rear panel port?

Have you verified that nothing is poking into your ports that shouldn't be there (like the little grounding fingers found on some motherboard I/O panels)?
Plugged it into the back of the PC.
Valid question, i actually hadn't checked yet but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be anything unusual.

Did you install or change anything else when you connected the headset?

Try installing the most recent AMD chipset drivers if the system will stay on long enough to allow it.

No, the only things i did were take the old headphone receiver for the turtle beach out, plug in steelseries, didnt work, plugged it into a different port, then was about to uninstall the turtle beach software when the first bsod happened.

I don't think there will be enough time for that. Is this doable in safe mode?
I haven't tryed safe mode yet as it was getting trouble booting up now, taking alot longer and not having as much time to change anything.

I just managed to get into safe mode and it seems stable for now.
I managed to collect some files that i needed from the pc just incase.
In the device manager there was a usb device which had an error, ive deleted that one now.

Should i do anything else while still in safe mode?
Can i install the chipset drivers you've mentioned?

The only restore points the pc has are after the problems started.

note: apply motherboard lighting firmware update. just in case it is a fix for a conflict with the corsair cooling control. (other vendors have done this fix)

------------
look for a firmware update for your
steelseries arctis nova 7 headset

change the memory dump type to kernel, this will give proper debug info for the usb subsystem.
looks like your system is mostly already updated but you might make sure you have installed your motherboard chipset drivers.

you might be hitting a bug in the usb extension.
the actual failure was in acpi not responding to a power irp.

(look for update to the audio headset first)
-----------
normally I would look for a bios bug for this memory dump
but your bios is pretty up to date. (so look for a firmware update for the motherboard or actual device)

note: there is a note for your bios update that indicates the amd chipset update is required.
time stamp on the chipset update is jan 23 2025
most of your amd files are dated in april 2024 to Dec 2024. (Ie not sure the required update was applied)
note: windows build looks good, no modified or corrupted windows files

Thanks for your reply.

I've set the memory dump to kernel.
Downloaded steelseries app so i could update the firmware.
The steelseries app doesn't show that the headset needs a firmware update, it doesn't show on the banner which it usually does if it's in need.

Now it doesn't see the usb stick anymore and no internet either.
Think im far done with this now.

Will a clean windows instalation solve this problem?
your windows build actually looked pretty good.
only thing of note was maybe your vpn, one intel usb driver
and a bunch of amd drivers of various dates.

when I first looked at it I would have guessed a bios bug but then I looked at the bios date and it is less likely.

are you running icue software? if so make sure your update the motherboard firmware for the led lights even if you do not use them.

intel usb bluetooth driver:
ibtusb.sys Fri Oct 18 07:33:10 2024
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

(i did not see any problem with this device, just noticed it was installed, there might be a update)

kind of strange that you have an amd cpu and motherboard and chipset drivers but you also have the intel cpu power management drivers installed.
IntelPMT.sys (intel processor power management (not sure what the T is for)
intelpep.sys (intel power engine plugin)
ibtusb.sys (intel blue tooth usb)

looked like the failure was something attached directly to the pci/e bus

usb debug and log info are saved in kernel dumps.

note: start control panel device manager, find the menu option to show hidden devices and delete any greyed out entry.
for the case where a device was removed but the driver is still causing problems.
Just to make sure, is the kernel dump file stored in the same location as the minidump? Or do i have to look elsewhere for it?
It's unfortunately getting late here so I'll be going to bed now.
I'll provide the files you requested tommorow.

I'll make sure to go through the greyed out entries tommorow as well.

Thanks for the help so far!

I do run the icue software, yes.
I'm not sure I've updated the rgb drivers after installing the pc earlier this year.
I'll do that tommorow as well!
