I play a lot of shooters and I enjoy battlefield 1. But my SSD has no space for the new updates, and my CPU (i5 4460) bottlenecks with my new GTX 1070.

I was wondering whether I should upgrade my storage and install a new 500Gb SSD for all my battlefields, or I save up an extra $400AU and buy an i7 6700k and a Mortar motherboard, and now corsair DDR4 ram. But even then, I will have no space for the update and will have to run it on my HDD which from my experience with BF4 dropped my FPS by 10-20%

Cheers,

Disks performance typically start getting bad as you fill up an SSD. If you want background on this google "write amplification", the SSD ends up copying large amounts of data trying to free up a block it can erase to write new data. Suggest you either get a new, larger drive or clean up the one you have.

Surprised that the i5 is the bottleneck for you system. Which games? If you look at vieos recorded of the games you play on youtube that also have gtx 1070s are they hitting the same frame rates at the same settings that you are hitting? The 3.2 ghz 4th gen i5 you are running should be plenty for a 1070 for most games in which case switching to the i7 would not change game play.

good luck seeing the difference between i5-4460 and i5-6500 while gaming. Spending on a new MB (they are different sockets) and new memory (ddr4 vs ddr3) as well as the money for the new CPU to gain 10-15% on benchmarks seems not so good. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6500-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4460/3513vs2310

I5-4460 is pretty fast.

yeah i had the i5 4460 is so outdated now yea it is good as well but the i5 6500 is a magnificent cpu newer performs better lower power consumption. also the fps in games it way better than the 4460 youtube this it today generation

My Ssd is a 120Gb 750 evo. Only bf1 is bottlenecked and perhaps crysis 3 a little. When I play bf1 I get 50-60 fps on lowest settings 1080p with no change in fps when I got to ultra. Vsync is not on. On YouTube people play at 1440p full ultra and are getting 60-100fps.
