System Volume Information has a file named with a string of letter and numbers that is 10.5 gigs. I turned off restore points, which should delete all restore files, but this one remains.

Windows is pissing me off. Trying to install Vista and then upgrade to Win 7 on a 128 SDD. It can't fit.... Windows keeps making 30 gig files in random places, causing a BSOD at the final stage of the upgrade.

Started a fresh install. Got Vista on there with *no* little trouble (yes, of course it screwed up 50 times) and updated. And it just keeps making giant files everywhere, eating up 128 gigs. WinDirStat found this 10.5 gig on in SVI folder. A syswxs (I think that sounds right) folder has like 30 gigs in it also, along with the System32 folder having 25 gigs.

I'll turn down page file and have removed system restore points. How can I trim some space? Only Win Vista and updates, nothing else installed.

Because I have a license key for Vista and a license key for Win 7 upgrade(retail keys). I tried just installing 7, but the dang thing let me get all the way installed before telling me it's not valid to do it that way.

I had windows 10, but after rebuilding the computer, I found out that the key is lost now.
