Question Windows Product Key ?

My HDD crashed and I lost enough Windows files so it won't load. I did manage to back up the drive (I hope). I need the Windows Product Key (hopefully in the backup) to install Windows on to a new HDD.
Is it possible to retrieve it from the backup?

You've posted this thread on the Windows 10 section, if that wasn't in err and you're indeed working with Windows 10, then the license key is tied to your motherboard's BIOS chip. Meaning you can hook up a new drive and while installing the OS, the installer will pick up the license key tied to your BIOS chip.

Mind you, were you working with an OEM license key?
