10 User Maximum Connection Limit in Windows 7 Ultimate

Hello,

I upgraded a computer to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista to get around the 10 user maximum connection limit. Apparently the maximum connection limit in Windows 7 is 20 users instead of 10. However, when I use "net config server" in Windows 7 Ultimate, it still shows the limit as 10 users. I get an error when the 11th user tries to connect to the computer.

How do I set the connection limit to 20?

As far as I know, all versions of Win7 have a 20 connection limit. I wonder if some vista files got left behind in the upgrade that may be limiting you.

File and printer sharing limit is 20, however, your 10 users may be using 2 connections each (one for printer share, one for file share. Or using 2 files shares each). It's not a 20 user limit, rather a 20 share limit.

The problem is upgrading from Vista.

The 10 connection limit is from doing an upgrade instead of new load.

Upgrading from 97 to XP is a total new OS; not just upgrading what you have.

Windows 7 uses some of the same OS files. It is not a total new OS.
You have to do a clean install for 20 connections.

That was my first thought which is why I mentioned it in my first post. My PC allowed 20 connections immediately after my win 7 install.
