When i first startup my pc the ddisk usage is at 10%-30% and when i open chrome, steam, sony vegas, and after effects the disk usage spikes up to 100% and i cant multitask (this is what i bought pc for)

Example: https://gyazo.com/a1cf3c45dc4603402301ee979b56bf46

PC Specs: AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 3.4GHz 8-Core Processor

Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC

Corsair Vengeance LED 32GB (16GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive <--- got from ebay

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX

Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case

be quiet! POWER ZONE 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

I turned off msi support superfetch and other stuff

EDIT: boot time is sometimes 1min+ or 42s

Win 8 and 10 both do this with HDD's. Disk @ 100% for 3 - 5 minutes post boot. System virtually unusable until all the start up checks complete.

Get a boot SSD (256GB class) and migrate the OS to it, keep your User Folders on the 2TB... Install applications that let you onto the 2TB drive as well...

wouldn't it be safe to assume the OP is using the 120GB hyper x fury as the boot drive ? i mean surely they aren't using that for storage .

edit: after viewing the screenshot it might be more likely it is the seagate HDD bought on ebay. confused as to why the OP has an SSD and using the HDD as the system drive.

it's far too simplistic to blame google chrome. if there was a problem with google chrome then the forum would be filled with posts regarding the issue. it's far more likely to be the download that seems to be running in steam . a better screenshot of the processes tab rather than performance tab would help though!

I just booted my pc and its been around 5mins and the disk usage is still at 70% - 100% and when im using sony vegas its at 80% i cant multitask with after effects or other applictions

Is a HDD good or a SSD? i might buy a SSD for windows/editing files and keep this HDD for programs and stuff. OR should i just buy a HDD ( 1tb ) for windows and editing files?

i'm confused . in your system specs you list : Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

what are you using that for ? storage ?
