Hi! I'm having trouble with my Dell Inspiron 15 3521. The issue is that I'm constantly getting a 100% disk usage at startup and when opening a program. It freezes my laptop then I get BSOD.

I tried disabling Windows Search, BITS, and Superfetch, but it didn't really fix the problem. I ran SFC /SCANNOW and it didn't find any error. I couldn't complete CHKDSK /F /R and DISM /RESTOREHEALTH, though. My laptop is originally running Windows 8. I tried refreshing and resetting my PC but I still get a high disk usage. lastly, I upgraded it to Windows 10, but the issue remains.

The BSOD messages i get are KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR, CRITICAL PROCESS DIED, UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME, and just recently, MSFS.SYS FAILED.

I checked my 500GB HDD with CrystalDiskInfo and got a caution message in reallocated sectors count. Is my HDD failing? Does it need replacing? And one more thing, I just noticed that whenever I move my laptop to one place to another, it freezes. Could it be that the motherboard is also faulting? Please help me!

Thank you in advance.

Im not an expert but there are a few possible issues 1. Compatibility: when upgrading a new system, the hardware or drivers are not upgraded, and the compatibility issue appears, so your computer is always needed to restart.
2. Ram issue
3. System files are corrupted or modified: if you need to restart your computer again and again, it may be because of the corrupted or modified files.
4. Disk has bad sectors: there may be some bad sectors in the HDD.

Now The MSFS.SYS Failed : is faulty hardware or corrupt device driver files and now the fact when you physically move your laptop it freezes would be an indication to me of the hard drive failing. If it was me i would do a bit more trouble shooting then spend a couple bucks on a new...

If all you are doing checking emails, browsing the internet, and playing Solitaire your unit has 4gb of ram and window 10 should have no problem operating as long as your not doing anything else. But then again if you have a few bucks you could go out and buy a fairly cheap laptop that 4 times more powerful than the one you have. I know times are tough though.
If your going the HDD way, Save all your files on external if you can then do a nuke and pave / a clean windows installation wait for your drive to fail again (this could break it permanently) then install your new one and start fresh
