Greetings everyone, I have recently noticed that on MSI Afterburner, my GPU's Frame Buffer usage constantly remains at 100% at idle and doesn't decrease even for a millisecond. I reinstalled my drivers and also reinstalled MSI Afterburner trying to fix this, I want to know what's causing this and how can I fix it.
-My GPU usage is alright, only FB usage is making me concerned.
-Apparently it could be a bitcoin mining virus but Malwarebytes couldn't find it.

My Specs:
MB: MS-7800
CPU: AMD A8-5500 APU
RAM: Crucial 16GB (2x8) 1600mhz DDR3
GPU: MSI RX580 8GB

Another thing: Before noticing the FB usage at 100%, 2 days ago I was overclocking my gpu using MSIAB and heaven benchmark until there was unstability and then I reset my GPU's clocks and voltage to default.

Help would be much appreciated.

Solution
I looked this up the other day when I first seen this post but couldn't find any real information about it. Like you said, some say it has to do with mining activities but that should also increase usage % of the core or memory.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but i'm hesitant to say it's fine because I honestly don't know for sure. If weird issues pop up I will generally to a fresh reinstall of windows. If it persist after that then most likely it is nothing.

Solution

Thanks for the reply, there isn't a major issue but it causes stuttering in games in which I usually get 110+fps in and it saddens me.

I have a 570 nitro+ from sapphire with the same issue and looking in other threads i found that this is cause by the drivers, go back to the driver crimson 17.5.2 and that will fix it, i was on driver version 17.7.2. Sorry if i write something wrong and cheers from argentina, good luck.

I have a 580 Nitro+ from sapphire and I have the same problem, apart from the major issues, as mine keeps crashing my entire system randomly. Even with your solution of using the previous driver, my fb usage is still constantly maxed out. Anyone's help/advice is much appreciated.

I know its an old thread, but I had same problem with my old gtx 470 after some system OC. My FB usage in Heaven benchmark jumped from 30% to 80%. Also my core and memory clocks were low as like with 2d mode :/ A solution for me was setting a Pci-express rail from auto to 100MHz manually. Auto must have set some bad value and my gpu started to freak out, and showing artifacts in Heaven, randomly crashing the nVidia driver few times and at the end crashing whole system. So, yeah if its due to overclock, trzy setting Pci-express clock to 100MHz.

I was having the same exact issue when overclocking my RX 560. After looking here and a few other old/dead threads I was able to find this solution.

Fixed the issue for me. I hope it helps you!
