I wouldn't get a K CPU as dollar for dollar, the amount of money required for overclocking is not worth the minimal performance you gain.
The motherboard is a quality Z97 board which supports SLI
The SSD is a quality and cheap 256 GB drive.
The PSU is a Tier 1 unit as it's very good. It also supports GTX 970 SLI.
The optical drive has faster read and write speeds.
The GPU is a cheaper GTX 970, but if you can stretch 20$, I would get the Gigabyte card.

I chose the asus z97-a, since its one of the better motherboards of the z97 chipset.
asus gtx 970 may not perform well as others (not a big diff) but to me has the most durability.
I chose a ssd so you can boot windows faster and loading screens to.
evga is one of the best power supply manufacturers
I didn't mess with the windows, but windows 7 to me has the best interface and great for modding (easier)
k series are very good if you overclock, if you do get a hyper 212 evo cpu cooler for mild and a corsair h100i for extreme overclocking. if you oc youll get better performance
