Approximate Purchase Date: This week
Budget Range: ~$1000 Before Rebates
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, hopefully 3d modeling (looking for job in mechanical engineering), internet
Parts Not Required: Speakers, monitor, case, HDD
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com (but if there is a better deal, let me know. i.e. getting CPU from microcenter)
Country of Origin: USA
Parts Preferences: none really
Overclocking: Maybe, interested in trying
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe later but right now would prefer a single card
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: I have a keyboard and mouse, but would be interested in peoples suggestion on better items (currently have the dell mouse and keyboard I got with current system 5 years ago) but this is not part of the budget
Parts the I have selected:
Case: Master Cooler HAF912 (already ordered it from Amazon for $50 shipped seemed like a good deal)
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - $ 124.99
CPU: Core i5 2500K LGA 1155 Boxed Processor - $179.99
Video Card: HIS IceQ X Turbo H695QNT2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity - $269.99
PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - $ 139.99
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR - $49.99
SSD: Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) with Transfer Kit - $94.99
Total = $859.94 + Tax
Any opinions are welcome, not really sure about the motherboard or videocard. CPU i went with the i5 since the extra $100 didn't seem worth it. I beleive I could upgrade to the 6970 or 570GTX video card and stay under $1000, what brands/models are suggested. Games I am excited to play and would like to play on high settings are Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Would a graphics upgrade be better or would the listed parts or equivalent be enough and spend the money on a better keyboard and mouse
