1000 Series Fan Question

I know that the fans on the 1000 series don't kick on until they are needed, but can someone tell me, do the fans spin briefly, or at least twitch, at startup? You know, just so that you know the thing is working/getting power? The version I bought doesn't have an LED.

No probably not. Why? Does the computer not boot up? If you have your display cable plugged into the gpu and you see something on the screen when you turn the computer on, its safe to say its working.

PC boots fine. No signal from the GPU though. Newest driver installed. Old GPU works in the same slot with the same cables.

I was hoping someone who actually has a 1000 series GPU could answer definitively though. That would help me narrow down whether or not it's a hardware issue.

I have an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC and yes the fan twitches on startup (I thought it was odd at first), but it has worked without issue. I'm not sure what your issue could be, but it's certainly something unusual.

Thank you. That tells me that either the GPU is a paperweight or it's not playing nice with the PSU. I'll RMA the card and hope the next one works.
