I currently have a 1050ti in my system and was looking at the performance comparison of a 970 vs the 1050ti. I usually play games like Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas as well as some RTS games. I also have a 550w psu so I hope that would be good enough for the upgrade.

Is the upgrade to a 970 worth it? Also how long would a 970 last before I need to upgrade it to satisfy specifications for future games?

Note: the 970 card I'm looking at is the MSI Gtx 970 gaming 4gb

I just sold my excellent MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970. It was a great card, but my favorite game has a bug that uses more the 3.5GB of VR RAM. If it weren't crashing because of the VRAM issue I would still use it. I was able to get 60FPPS at 1080p with ultra graphics in most game. That card needs 8-pin & 6-pin PCIe power connectors from a 500 PSU min.

I went with a used GTX 1070 and now the game uses 5.5GB. Future games are likely to need 6GB to 8GB minimum.
