I installed this card about three weeks ago and I have had five instant shutdowns usually random like every couple of days, the pc just instant turns off like power went out, usually while watching kodi tv, two times happened playing star citizen, every time the pc was instantly turned back on and worked fine, my power supply is corsair RM750 its a year old, I was beginning to suspect the psu but then i read these cards are affected by Vram overheat due to left out thermal pads, is it possible im damaging my system with this card?? Or do you all think its just bad timing and something else is wrong

I tried to get a refund from bestbuy they wouldnt refund they said they only refund after 30 days how hard is it put in thermal pads im a little scared to take the video card apart, it dosent have a backplate if that helps, sucks i paid 340$ for this card

Then do a RMA. EVGA will accept your RMA to add any thermal pads to their cards.

Aside from that, you haven't found the cause for the shutdown right now. Take out the 1060 and use your integrated graphics or another graphic card and see if the issue still persists. If it still happens, it's probably not your gtx 1060 but something else.
If you have another psu to test the system with, try it.
Check with your cable connections and try taking the system out of the case to test it incase something is short circuiting.
