Decided to build a Home media server. Going to run Jellyfin and would like to be able to run at least 1-2 4k streams simultaneously with 2-3 1080p streams. I have plenty of experience building Regular/Gaming PCs, but absolutely no experience or knowledge with this.
For CPU I’m considering an older Intel Xeon like an E3-1270 or W-2133. They’re cheap, and I’ve found boards for them already, main downside being power consumption. Just curious if they’d hold up with my needs. Also know that an i7-7700k would work, but a little more than I’m wanting to spend. Though if it’s going to be absolutely better than I’m not against it.
For GPU, I’ve pretty much got it narrowed down to a 1660 or intel a380. Leaning towards the 1660 again because of price, but not completely against the a380.
Would love some advice on my picks or new recommendations, mainly for the CPU. Ideally >$50 USD for the chip, but up to $100 is alright.
