1080p 24" vs 27"?

I currently own a 17" belinea monitor with 720p. I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now, and I'd like to have a 27" monitor. They are just the right size in my opinion. I can't really get a one with 1440p because I can't really afford one, and even if I could I don't really think my GPU could handle it (GTX 570 Phantom). I heard that 27" is too big for 1080p, however it would be an upgrade compared to my current one nonetheless. I mainly wanna use it for gaming. So do you guys think that 27" is really that bad compared to 24" on 1080p?

No, I don't find that to be true. The difference between 24 and 27 inches at 1080p is pretty hard to distinguish.
