Hi, I recently got an ROG GL702VS gaming laptop and I am trying to play Skyrim on my 4k TV. I have an HDMI 2.0 cable, and both ports are also HDMI 2.0, but my FPS is capped at 30. I have tried everything I know in the Nvidia control panel and in the Windows settings and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Thanks

Without knowing more about your specific TV, many are only capable of 30Hz at 4k, hence your framerate cap. Look more into your televisions capabilities. Maybe post model etc on here.

Using a TV as a computer monitor has always been fraught with frustration.... at 4k, that's most often going to be an fps cap. Looking at your laptop specs, it offers two options:

17.3" (16:9) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) 120Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72% NTSC with G-Sync
17.3" (3:2) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) 75Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72% NTSC with G-Sync

It might have other options but I couldn't find anything listed on the spec page.

if you want to drive 4k, assuming the TV isn't limited in this manner, I'd suggest starting with a lappie that can output 4k. The 1070 however isn't going to do get much higher in many games. here's the desktop model (mobile 1070 is a bit slower):

The TV model is UN40KU6290FXZA, maybe it is only capable of 30 fps but I swear people said it could do 60.
