1080p on 4k monitor

I currently own an lg 27mu67. Whenever i play at 4k or 1440p it is fine, however when i set it to 1080p the colours seem to slightly change with the resolution as in the blacks are not as dark. Does anyone have any idea why this would occur? The blacks stay the same when i set it down to 1440p. would i get this effect if i were to plug in a console too?

Depends on the display. My Panasonic 58AX800 doesn't do that.

Have You tried change the monitor settings for gaming mode?

And perhaps make sure you use the displayport (DP).
