I know that 1440p has 1.78x the pixels of 1080p, and 2160p or 4K resolution is 4x the pixel count of 1080p. On paper, a 4K system with a GTX 1080 would be a better value in terms of pixels per dollar than a 1440p system with a GTX 1070. However, I also understand that 2160p does not look 4x better than 1080p, and that it just decreases the visability of jaggies and lines and such in games, so that got me thinking that maybe the jump from 1080p to 1440p might be bigger than the difference between 1440p and 4K.
If you've used all three resolutions, which resolution do you think would be the worthier upgrade for the money from 1080p, 1440p or 4K? Is the real life difference between 1080p and 1440p or 1440p and 4K bigger? I don't think it would be worth it to upgrade to 1440p then 4K, so I'm only considering one or the other. I don't care that much about the benefits of desktop real estate or browsing benefits or whatever, I'm just concerned about the visual difference in gaming with jagged lines and such.
Also, if you've had experience comparing 1080p with heavy AA VS 1440p or 4K without AA, and if I'm just concerned about jaggies in video games what would be better value upgrade to shoot for. If heavy AA makes a bigger difference I would love to save the extra cash on not having to buy another monitor.
