Hi, ive just bought a 1080ti and no matter what program i use the gpu usage is 0% nd the clock speeds never chnge.
FPS are fine and every game is playing brilliantly.
I need to see my gpu usage and clock speeds for overclocking purposes.
Programs ive used are gpuz, hwmonitor and msi afterburner.
All of them say 0% and stay at stock clocks which is very weird, ive never had this issue before.
Also if i adjust power limit even by 1% my entire system starts to hang and become unusable to the point i have to do a hard restart, adjusting clock speeds and vram speeds nothing happens and it seems ok but i have no idea if its actually running at those speeds.

System specs are
6700k @ 4.6ghz
16gb 300mhz ram
asus maximus viii formula motherboard
EVG 1080ti sc black edition.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

GPU usage is not a sensor. AFAIK this would be monitor via the vBIOS and reported through the PCIe bus to Windows.

One way to test OVERCLOCKING would be to run UNIGINE VALLEY and note the average FPS, overclock then look at the result and see if it went up. Two points on that:
a) Unigine Valley reports incorrect values in the upper right, so ignore those, and
b) be sure to use the EXACT same settings

My GTX1080 results are:
1. Unigine Valley
-DX11, Ultra, x8AA, full screen, 2560x1440

GTX1080
- 68.4FPS avg
- 2863
- 32.7fps low
- 140.3fps high

YOUR results should be about 25 to 30% higher if you can get close to 2000MHz. Thus, average FPS should be 85FPS or higher potentially.

Again, I'd contact EVGA.

I could find no reference to an...
Try using EVGA Precision XOC.

Toggle the OSD on if greyed out (in upper right), and make sure GPU usage is selected above in "OSD settings"

(when you choose "GPU Usage" make sure that "GPU1" is highlighted, if not click it to highlight it)

...also, I have "F4" down near the bottom set to TOGGLE the OSD on or off in a game

Thank you for your response but its still the same

1. Using two measuring utilities at the same time is a problem.

2. Let's try this ... Run Furmark with no utilities measuring anything .. all info will be displayed on screen within Furmark window

3. If none of the above displays anything, you card is not outputting the signals.

Do you think this could be a faulty card?
I bought it off ebay with a custom cooler installed.
Do you think the custom cooler could interfere with sensors, its an evga hybrid cooler thats been fitted.
I have no idea about this kind of stuff

Im thinking it may have a custom bios on it, im familiar with flashing amd cards but ive never flashed an nvidia card before.
My old card which was a r9 390 had a bios switch so i could eaislly fix things is something went wrong.
I could use my igpu in my cpu if something went wrong but id rather not risk bricking the card.
Ill give it a try if someone thinks this could be the problem.

I could find no reference to an alternative vBIOS so it sounds like a defective card in some way, though possibly a vBIOS corruption that a reflash would fix.

BIOS flash:
There must be a way to reflash (which could brick the card, but it's probably not common), as I found THIS comment:

"I have a 1080 Ti Black. It's a good card. Mine is running at 2GHz core, 6200/12400 memory. 640 is a fair price. However I would recommend buying a FTW3 as they come with a higher power limit. I had to flash my black edition card to the FTW3 bios to increase the power limit for max OC. "

*okay, here is the vBIOS (correct version): https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/192366/evga-gtx1080ti-11264-170406-1

I guess you use NVFLASH.. http://www.overclock.net/t/1627212/how-to-flash-a-different-bios-on-your-1080-ti

Solution
So it appears possible someone flashed with the FTW3 vBIOS which may explain your issues.

GPUZ reports the vBIOS

YOUR card should be: 86.02.39.00.90

OTHER EVGA 1080Ti BIOS numbers are listed here: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?manufacturer=EVGA&model=GTX+1080+Ti

So you can tell which vBIOS your card has. If it's not the original, reflashing should fix your reporting issue. In fact, despite the above comment about FTW3 for overclocking there's no guarantee a different BIOS would allow that, or it could add instability.
