I have a 1090t 8gb ram with a R9 380 4gb samsung 950 pro, everything is relatively new but the cpu/mobo.

Ive seen videos on youtube with people using very old 2core e4** procesors with very old 9800gt and getting WAY more fps than I get on games.

I know my computer can handle games but I dont seem to understand how or why not.

Ive tried to OC but i fail miserably, I simply suck at it.

I have 3 monitors connected and use at all times, Most of the times i got a twitch stream on my left and on my right twitter or webwhatsapp. Ive seen some fps drops on overwatch when I stream on Source quality. I believe is more about the quality that than the bandwith used. I have 20mb down internet, i think im fine there.

Fps

Overwatch: 80 tops, most of the time 60-70
CSGO: 110~ most of the time 80.
LoL: 115ish somtimes drops to 80
ARMA 3: 1 😀, jk, 12.
THE CULLING: <-- Reason on why I went on amazon pissed mad and bought this card cuz that was more i could afford on that moment and ended up buying, STILL 12fps. I had a 6790.

I know Its an OLD CPU But ive seen stock settings online or people sayin they have similar or worst setup than mine and get way, way more fps than I do. PC has no virus, I recently uninstalled AVG and use W-Defender.

I have a Solid mid tier GPU, why am I having so much problems with fps?

ty in advance

Solution
if it managed 3.8 for a couple of mins then your nearly there, pull it back to 3.6 and try again.
but this time instead of priming it. just run your games and see if you get a bump in fps... if you do then the cpu is holding your gpu back as i said earlier.
it shouldnt be at 3.0+ghz though...

also forget about turboboost. you want aim for 3.6 across all cores if you can.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a7AxZJ7tWc linus gives a few good tips with this clip.

what core volts are you running and what temps was the cpu maxing at with prime?

What CPU and mobo have you got though? You still havent told us.
All you've said is that its an old CPU which isnt saying much.
Could be an i5 Clarkdale for all I know.

You'll need to post your full system specs and graphics drivers and settings you are playing these games on.
There are too many variables here, need more information.

im going to guess your problem is that you're trying to do so much at once, and likely your cpu is not keeping up. i would first suggest using something like afterburner to monitor usages and see whats capping out.

then maybe play with just the one monitor without all the extra stuff going and stop streaming. see if that matches the performance you're seeing. that extra stuff going on is certainly eating up resources, streaming especially.

I did say the CPU but yes I should have said everything.

AMD 1090T Black Edition @ 3.2GHZ
GA-890FXA-UD5 Motherboard
8GB Ripjaw DDR3
R9 380 XFX 4GB
Samsung SSD Pro 850

GPU drivers are updated. 16.5.3

My settings ingames are LOL = Maxed
Overwatch Lets say Mid/High
CSGO High
Arma i couldnt go more pixelated and still get low fps
Same with the culling.

Ive played with 1 monitor connected, nothing else in the background FPS stays the exact same, no improvement.

With stream or as many chrome tabs i got open, Only if stream is on source quality and chat is wild, i get some lag spikes, sometimes i lose 5-20 fps, I always disable twitch chat because sometimes it does go crazy, and Sometimes either fps stays exactly the same or lose some at times. Not spikes tho.

he has a 1090t amd thurban 6 core.

op, the likely culprit of the low fps is the other screens. turn them off at the driver level and retest your game benchmarks you should notice a considerable increase in fps.
also in that vid the intel cpu was clocked to a massive 4.2ghz. in the region of 45% which would go a long way to alleviating any bottlenecks on his system.
yours should manage 3.3+ if done properly and with the right cooling.

you can bump the multiplyer on the cpu by 1 or 2 and leave the voltage as is. run your benches and see if you get a jump in fps. if you do then the cpu is likley holding you back.
if so then read up on overclocking and try to get at least 4 cores up to 3.3-3.6 if you can.(you can turn off a couple of the cores in bios if you have the right motherboard.)

Ty for your answer.

Previous owner had it at 4.3ghz
I have a V8 Cooler Master.

Ive tried to get it at its turbo boost atleast (3.6) Cant for some reason make it to be stable, yesterday I went through for hours and learned a bit on how it works. Managed to get it to 3.8 but failed after a couple of minutes on prime95, so its back on stock.

Ive tested with only 1 monitor, but still get the exact same performance. With or without stream, chrome tabs, etc.

Solution

It was maxing 57c and i was using the pc normally untill it bsod'ed

Also I just upped 2 times the multiplayer like u said before, up to 3.6, just upped that and I did see a bit of improvement, my fps where around 110 in overwatch where it should be 90 or less maybe. I had a huge smile untill 3 - 5 minutes after I was playin, PC Crashed. And i turned the pc on and tested immediatly cuz u recommended me so. I dont know what to do, Cant get my pc to be stable above 3.2ghz.

Also I thought that when i gamed my boost would get all my cores up to 3.6, thats why I never aimed to 3.6. Now I see I can get better performance at 3.6 than in stock 😱. Didnt know that.

Any tips on how to get it to 3.6 stable? Should i upper my Core Voltage? or Northbridge / HT Link?

Ive google for months a good OC guide for my Mobo, but apparently no good one. Also from 1-10 knowing about OC, im at 2? maybe 3 so im not sure besides Voltage and clock speeds, what else should I be playin with.

Also you've been very very very helpfull I trully appreciate it.

Ok, so I just opened every software available, hwmonitor msi afterburner speccy cpuz,

Fired up OW and started playin, no Chrome / stream nothing opened, Only the game and the other apps.

CPU load was jumping from 70-92% depending on if I was in a small room or mid fights or in the open, so i started to set myself up, hiding but watching people fight, load was around 80-90%.<--- HWMonitor GPU usage was 100%. <-- Afterburner.

Now, i decided to open Chrome and fire up a stream. Source quality made all 6 cores to be 98-100% Load! Also i had CPUZ and Core speed was 3.2ghz, never jumped to 3.6ghz as it should.
Also when streaming my fps do drop 20~ fps. So there is that on the laggy spikes when i got stream on my 2nd monitor.

I Still would love to get more fps since i KNOW that i should be getting more fps. When I OC'ed to 3.6ghz on all 6 cores my fps where increased by 20-30 fps. Just on that small jump, any tips on how to get it to a stable 3.6 or 3.8? I would even pay to get it to 4.0ghz, like i said before, previous owner with this exact same computer had it at 4.3-4.4ghz.

When I got it to 3.8ghz i had upped the Voltage to 1.475 <-- Which is max recommended
3.8ghz
286 multiplyer

Ram was a lilttle bit under the 1600 mark.
Nortbridge was at 2600
and HTLink at 2000

I dont think i did anything else. Should I change anything else? Sry for the huge post, I believe you're my last hope 🙁

you got a good bump in fps? then its likely the cpu is holding your card back. also if its hitting 100% load then its bottlenecking for sure.
as for overclocking that cpu theres better people than me to ask as the last amd i oc'd was an athonx2 6000+

the fact you had to bump the cpu volt so high likely points to electron leakage which means the previous owner pushed it to the max and the chips lanes have started to break down. likely the reason he's given/sold it to you.

basically leakage is caused by the electrons flowing through the circuit, they bounce of the lane walls created in the silicone when its printed and eventually these walls break down. allowing electrons flow over them into the neighbouring lanes causing instability and eventually failure.
theres nothing you can do about this other than increasing volts to maintain the cpu's oc or reduce the oc and running the cpu with higher than normal voltage. either way it spells the end of life for the cpu after a short while.

the fact you had to bump the volts so high to get even 300 mhz over stock tells me theres an issue, so if i were you i would forget the oc and run the cpu as long as it lasts on stock. while saving up for some new basics.

that vid by linus is about as good as it gets mate so if your not stable with the given volts in that clip then save yourself the headache.

Read me clearly mr Hexit.. i fuckin love you.. believe it or not, that "oh even if it crashed at 3.8ghz, dont quit, youre almost there" made me read for REAL about OC, learn whats the conection between everything and my friend im at a very stable 3.8ghz....

OW fps is at 85 - 130
Csgo is at 150 minimun 280 max depending on map.
the culling, the damn game that made me go into amazon and buy a card i couldnt afford is atleast playable, 30 fps and as maybe you should know, the deeper you go on the game and people start dying, the more fps you get.
Oh and voltage is low, 1.350 if im not mistaken.

You sir made me study about OC on that small comment and made my day...
Oh and temps in prime 95 at 55c.
Ive been using the computer normally played for hours etc... primed for 15~minutes, i read somewhere that if i prime for 10 mins and no crash i should be good, ill still prime it maybe tomorrow for a couple of hours. But so far, very good, very stable

Ty hexit, ive been if you can see my posts, asking on if its worth upgrading, how can i oc, for months.. and today i finally made it. Im pretty sure I can hit 4.0ghz maybe 4.2 but that will be on another time.

Im pretty happy with the results even tho i want more, because i KNOW i can get more. Ty for been alive Hexit, ty.!
