So I just passed in the The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and I decided to buy a new system for gaming and everyday usage for the various tasks for the University. Because I am going to spend a lot of hours in front of the computer screen the following years I want to build a desktop that it will last in time and it will be able to keep up with the progress of technology. Please note because I live in Greece not all of the parts you might suggest will be available here and at a competitive price like in other countries.
Approximate Purchase Date: In 2 weks approxemately
Budget Range: 900-1100€
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Programming, Various projects for the University, Media, General Use
Are you buying a monitor: YES
Do you need to buy OS: NO, I will install Windows 10 Pro with a key from my University
Location: GREECE
Parts Preferences: Intel for CPU, I prefer mostly NVIDIA GPUs because of the features and the name
Overclocking: Maybe in the future, but not in the first years
SLI or Crossfire: NO
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Here is the list of the parts I have researched so far with the approximate prices I have found them in several local stores here in Greece.
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 355€
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 85€ (Because I own a gift card in Amazon and I will pay less)
MOBO: Gigabyte B150-HD3P (rev. 1.0) 100€
RAM:Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR4-2133MHz 55€
HDD:Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA HDD ST1000DM003 55€
SSD: Kingston SM2280S3 120GB M.2 SATA SSD 70€
CASE:Sharkoon VG4-W 42€
CPU COOLER: CoolerMaster Hyper T4 32€
CASE FAN: Corsair SP120 LED Blue High Static Pressure 120mm 15€
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair VS Series VS650 80Plus 64€
Blu-Ray Driver: Samsung SN-506BB 57€
Monitor: Samsung S22D390H 140€
Keyboard:Logitech Keyboard K120 13€
WIFI Adapter: There is a chance I will need this so I will probably buy a cheap one around 10-15€ (Suggestions?)
Speakers: Already have Creative Inspire T6300 5.1 Multimedia Speaker System
Mouse: Already have Razer DeathAdder Chroma
SUM IS AROUND 1100€ And this is the maximum amount of money I can spent. I would like to keep it even lower if possible
So what do you think? Is this a good setup for this amount of money? Do you have any suggestions? I am also open fot any tradeoffs for better parts.
