Having a problem with my phenom ii x6 1100t as soon as the socket hits 49 degrees it throttles down to 800 mhz. Cores never get above 40 degrees at full load. Any ideas about whats causing this and how to deal with it would be great thanks.

What bios is your board at? asus says to use the 1100t the board needs bios 1005. Are any component get hot on the board under load like the VRM, power delivery area?

Have you tried to use full load tests like Aida64 or prime95 and watch what happens with temps on all sensors and voltages?

Current bios version from memory it's 2001 or around there. Only really run into the problem when running prime95 and nothing else gets hot as far as i can see with Hardware monitor will have to check voltages but i believe they are all at stock as I'm not keeping it oc'd until i can get this sorted out. In terms of cooling i have 2 120mm front fans and one rear moving air through its that enough or is a side fan aimed at the vrm's or extract sinks for them?

Ok so i haven't got an answer as to why it's throttling at such a low temp but i have a work around. Added another cpu fan for push pull and it had dropped the temps so the socket sits at about 40 and cores at about 30 but would still like to know why this thing is shutting down at fairly low temps and what i can do about it. Thanks for your help people.
