I just flashed my Asus Maximus to bios 1102 (the latest non-beta bios) and now i can set my Q6700 at a vcore of 1.225 for a vdrop value of 1.208

I have the speed set to 333 x 9, and the machine is prime 95 stable for 10 hrs

the VID of my 6700 is 1.2500 acording to Coretemp

So to anyone out there using the Asus Maximus board, a thumbs up for 1102

Kevin

I have the board, but haven't flashed it recently, so maybe I will! The Load Line Calibration on mine nets .0250 Voffset (VDrop) And +.008 VDroop when loaded!

That's a decent chip you have there. Simple 3.6 Ghz, and prolly 3.7, after that it may get a lil fun to Over clock!

But it can easily get more. And you are prolly aware of that as well.

Gonna crank her up any more?

The best part is, if your willing to risk it, you can flash the Asus Rampage BIOS onto the Asus Maximus opening up more BIOS options.

Yeah, how does that go? Is it just because Asus was being dumb and locked out a few to sell on a higher priced board?

Gawds, I hate when they do that kinda stuff!

Know anyone who has it in effect?

Lupiron, the Rampage launched a good couple of months later and is buit using 65nm instead of 90nm so it can handle the extra heat the new options generate. But if you got good air flow its not a problem.

Also I don't know about where you live but out here the Asus Rampage costs almost exactly as much as the Asus Maximus(actually the Rampage is marginally cheaper) making it the replacement not an overpriced upgrade.

Ahh, thats good to know, my next board will be a P45 so I can actually use all this 1066 RAM I have laying around. 4x2 GB GSkill 1066 @ 2.0 volt.

With the P45, I can see how well it over clocks and maintains the 5-5-5-15! You can act like you are testing it when your FSB is not in sync with it.. So that takes 550 FSB!!

Yee haw, bet the memory benchies are impressive, I think that's why no one likes DDR3, it hasn't shown any HUGE gains that justify it over good DDR2 when that FSB can match!!

Er... Got some bad news. Intel boards don't do over 800mhz with 4 RAM chips. I currently got 4x1gb Dominators 1066mhz (I know 2x2gb would be better but it was R20/$3 cheaper than 2x1gb so and 2x2gb weren't available at anything reasonable...). With only 2 chips I can hit 8000mbit transfer speeds but with 4 regardless of settings I can only hit 6400mbits transfer speeds.

Quite happy with 3 Ghz on my Q6700

Oh the VID was incorrectly stated in my first post, the chip has a VID of 1.2125 instead of the reported 1.2500, i am assuming that why i can set the core voltage to 1.225 and get away with a vdrop value of 1.208 and maintain 100% stability with litte heat at 3.0 GHz (according to core temp the readings are 31, 30, 30, 31 under idle and 45, 46, 45, 45 under load)

I do have a thermalright ultra 120 extreme, with a synthe 1600 rpm fan cooling this processor

I have thought about going with 333 x 10, but i am content for the 3.0 Ghz and the cool operating processor

Awwww!! You can get alot more with that chip! Its better than both mine!

The first is 1.2250 and gets 3.783 on less that 1.36 volts, and the other is a 1.2375 and it gets 3.95 At 1.53 or less!

So you can get alot more!!

Yeah i guess i can push it, but you know what, a content man is a happy man

The last thing i need is a blue screen, while in the middle of making up exams or lesson plans

So i have found my nirvana

That is very true, but 3.6 Ghz would be very simple. And no BSODs. Thats for 3.9 or more on that VID!

Just a few minor Bios changes on that Formula! I have one sitting right here, and a chip with a VID one step over yours, and two!

65 NM starts at 1.2000, and goes up in .0125 steps.

IE, yours: 1.2125. Mine is next up at 1.2250, and then my second one is the next step, 1.2375, and onward to 1.3250.

OK Lupi...you are the anti-christ of overclocking

I tired to cpu at 10 x 333 (my ram is only ddr2-667 rated at 4-4-4-12 @ 1.8) and i could get it prime 95 stable at a vcore of 1.2375 for a vdroop of 1.226

The temps are 33,33,34,33 idle

load temps are 45,46,45,45

So both are decent, but i do not notice any speed increase from 3.0 to 3.33
