have a p7p55d pro mobo, looking to upgrade from my i5 750, if I knew how to O.C it I would keep it but I don't want to play with voltages heh. Is there any decent cpu for this socket being made or do I need a new mobo?

Your i5 already does have 4 cores, the i5 6xx series were dual core with hyperthreading, i5 7xx is quad core no hyperthreading. Your GPU is definitely holding you back, and you could certainly upgrade that first and get a big performance boost in pretty much everything.

As for Ark, it's a badly optimized game that doesn't run all that well even on the latest and greatest hardware, so you may have to temper your expectations a bit on that game, but I'm pretty sure you're more GPU bound than CPU bound at this point. You'd need...

There are some very cheap Xeon X3440/X3450 or better CPUs on ebay. They are overclockable, so it does not really matter which one you buy. The cheapest is the X3430, but it lacks hyperthreading, so don't buy that one.

The X3430 without OC. is approx. equivalent to an i5 4430. Pretty much enough for games, up to a 7970/GTX680.

The x3430 is not equivalent to a i5 4430 when it's the same gen as his i5 750. It's worse than his cpu already when his i5 is higher clocked and can oc.

You should just oc. There is nothing to worry about as long as you look up what max voltages to set. There a lots of guides out there.

yeah i can't say the x3430 is equivalent to an i5-4430...its basically the same thing as his current cpu

You're pretty much looking at a whole new CPU and motherboard combo, there are no real upgrades from your current CPU aside from Lynnfield based Core i7s and Xeons, which are pretty much the exact same as your current CPU except with hyperthreading enabled and maybe slightly higher stock clock speeds. If you're looking for better gaming performance, you're not going to get much better on your current platform, and the best you can really do is try overclocking your i5 750.

I suppose I could try and Oc it, but don't mmo type games cpu dependant wouldn't it be better to have 4 cores, I know I need a better gpu only have a 5850 and I can barley play arc evolved on min settings.

You'd need to move up to at least a GTX 960 or R9 380 before you'd really start to see a bottleneck, and it wouldn't become really significant unless you jumped up to the GTX 970 or R9 390.

I've been looking for guides with my chip and mother board but they all seem use diffrent values to oc, some people using 1.4 to 1.12 cpu volts difference to get the same result. What's a good guide to go by?

Stock is around 30, 40 what playing games, just got a free 7950 and boy that helps a lot. I changed all the setting indicated on the video, i dont remember what kind of ram I have so i couldn't change the timings, and for volts i only changed cpu to 1.31 and ram to 1.65, the other one he mentioned is not on my bios.
