So Im looking to upgrade my rig and would like some input if possible. I have about 1200$ to spend for the internals, case and psu will remain from previous build.
Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: in 5 days
Budget Range: 1100-1200$ before shipping
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Movies, Audio scource for FLAC collection paired with audiophile sound system
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: CPU, CPU Fan, MOBO, RAM, HDD/SSD, GFX card (PSU will remain from old build, Thermaltake Toughpower 650w)
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: mindfactory.de (or any other global page, the prices are very close)
Location: City, State/Region, Country - Frankfurt, Germany
Parts Preferences: Intel CPU
Overclocking: Yes
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200
Additional Comments: Rig is mostly used for Gaming, some movies and listening to music
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: my old rig is more then 5 years old and starts to struggle with most games @ native resolution of the monitor. Would like to get a system again that will last me hopefully as long as the last one (e6300@2,8Ghz, 4GB DDR2, 2x160GB RAID0, 8800GTS 320MB)
I could run the old HDD-s in the new rig or maybe get 2 SSD-s for RAID0 + 1 HDD for storage. The huge benefit of Raid0 with HDD-s made me fall in love with it, dont know if it scales the same with SSD's or if its better to go with just one drive. I extract fairly often larger files thus the performance vs non Raid0 is very welcome.
Thank you for your input
