Hello!

I really need to upgrade my PC and I've been putting it off again and again since the birth of my children. It's been 10 years since I've bought a part for it (apart from a new SSD and PSU when it stopped working). I never was the one the play the latest games requiring the most power, but now, I'm having problems running anything new.

Thank you very much!

Approximate Purchase Date: This month

Budget Range: 1000-1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Gaming mostly

Are you buying a monitor: No, I already have 2 monitors.

Parts to Upgrade: Motherboard/CPU, GPU, RAM. I will be reusing my SSD and 2 old hardrives, my power supply (if it works for the new parts) and my case. I don't need a mouse/keyboard either.
Power supply: CP-9020133-NA TX Series TX550M

Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
https://www.newegg.ca/black-corsair-carbide-series-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811139040

Do you need to buy OS:
No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.ca, but anything canadian is fine

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Parts Preferences: I was thinking of going with AMD this time

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution:1920x1080

Additional Comments: I want a computer to play Path of Exile 2

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I'm having very low fps playing path of exile, Ixion and some newer games, ie: I couldn't run Diablo 4 at all

This build is just a little over 1,200.

One thing i am not sure about is the graphics card. The 6700XT is enough to blow a hole in PoE2 and Diablo4, which is nice but maybe overkill. It is your money afterall. Maybe you can get a better deal or buy a cheaper one.

Even with a 4060, this would be a pretty powerfull PC for many games even up to 1440p, though a 4060 would choke on some of the very demanding ones.

Maybe someone else has a better suggestion.

I like Why_Me's build better.

Here is an Intel option; roughly the same price but a little bit weaker as it lacks on-board graphics:

The on-board graphics are normally not needed as long as the dedicated GPU is present and working, but sometimes it can be a life saver when the GPU is acting up.
Unfortunately, the 13600K is almost $90 more than the KF chip.

The i5 12600K is also a possibility: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product...-12600k-37-ghz-6-core-processor-bx8071512600k
It is not a much worse chip than the 13600KF and it does have on-board graphics. It costs ~$245

It's a toss up really. The AMD CPU doesn't always play nice with RAM which is a shame because it benefits from overclocked RAM. Intel doesn't care what RAM you slot in (there are limits though!), but costs more and doesn't outperform AMD in gaming.

The upside is that either way you go, you won't make a mistake. So that's a nice place to be in.
