Question 12gb of GDDR5

My computer was a prebuilt from staples. It comes with 12 gigs of gddr5 ram and im wondering is this as good as having atleast 8-12 gigs of ddr4 ram?

Only the Maxwell or Pascal Titan X came with 12GB of GDDR5 and I am not inclined to believe any prebuilt from staples came with one.

To answer your question, GDDR5 has far more bandwidth than DDR4, but being tuned for bandwidth above all else means it can also have far worse latency. Graphics cards are pretty insensitive to latency which is why they use GDDR5

I think you are confusing this RAM for something else, computers currently use DDR4 RAM, GDDR5 is for video cards, and it is not likely a computer from Staples would have a card with 12GB of memory. You may want to list your full system specs, or link to the model on the web site, or list the full model number of the computer.
