guys i am using a i7-6700k, on a gigabyte z170x-gaming g1 motherboard. I am using the integrated graphics and want to buy a graphics card for 12k gaming actually 3 1080p monitors using dsr or vsr. I want dual r9 390x's 8x2=16gb buffer would easily suffice 12k. Would you recommend it as i dont have budget for triple 90ti's(6gbx3=18gb) because games like gta v uses 14gb at 12k. So dual r9 390x's is a sweet spot in my mind.

He said he's going to be using DSR/VSR, so I assume he's talking about trying to render as 3x4K, and then downscale to 3x1080p.

That being said, calling 3x4K 12K isn't quite accurate, for the same reason that 8K =/= 2x4K.

In Gpu 8x2 does not equal 16, it equal 8. They are just mirrored.

12k... lol. Not criticizing here to harshly but I would do some more research before pulling the trigger on purchasing of hardware, so you know what your budget is getting you to avoid disappointment with the desired results.

My bad I missed that in my original reading.

On that note though I wouldn't really say that is a good idea. The 390x barely squeaks by playable at 4K res with mid graphics option (though that depends on exact def of playable so I'm being generous) so even running two of them (~30-40% increase in performance) won't do so hot trying to play with 3 4K screens. Well maybe if you turn everything to low settings it will but I doubt it.

But in games like gta v ,shadow of mordor the total vram shows the addition in crossfire or sli. So let me say i am playing gta v at 8k using a 8k monitor(which is not available). The vram usage is about 8432mb i.e. 8.4gb. Then the vram usage in game will not show that it is full but will show that it consumes 8.4 gb of 16gb. And about vsr i can run 3 1080p monitors at 4k by downscaling it. So i am using 3 monitors so it is effectively 11520x2160. So then say will i be able to game smoothly at such weird resolution.

No, I won't say you will be able to play the game smoothly at that resolution because you won't be able to. Also it may show your total vram but since the vram must be mirrored you actually have an effective vram space of 8GB, Ex. you are 8.4GB out of 16GB total but that really consists of using 4.2GB out of 8GB on two separate cards.

Regardless of the vram situation though you simply don't have enough GPU horsepower to push three displays at 4K
