I thought id throw this question here as there is a fairly large comunity, perhaps someone can help.
I am in need of a single 110V outlet in my truck that can handle some where between 30A low end and 45A high end. 30A will get the job done if its more feasible. I am looking at around 3500-5000W of power as it is. I thought of digging into some old microwaves as they are 1500W or so, but my experience in this type of circuit building is limited. ideally id like to find someone who knows more about building converters to talk to on a chat program or skype or what not. my goal here is not to spend the 1000.00 that retail power converters cost. at present i cant find any converters that have only one outlet, many have the Amperage requirement but they are divided among 4 or 6 outlets.
edit: this would be for an air compressor so the power draw would be maybe once every few min to once ever half hour. the compressor is 40A but is able to run up to 110PSI on a 20A circuit. i know this as i tripped a breaker in the house on a 20A socket.
