Hi everyone

This is a very odd problem: whenever my monitor is plugged in (viewsonic VG1921) and connected to my PC via DVI-to-VGA, I feel a constant electric shock in the computer ports and the case. what could be the problem?

Solution
I would suggest checking both. In my case it was the power lead that my power strip was plugged into.
If changing leads does not do the job, perhaps try another power supply, if possible to eliminate any issues with grounding in the supply.
The last thing you'd want to do, if it comes to it, is to strip the pc completely and re-assemble it to make sure there are no grounding issues there.

power lead on the monitor or the pc?

Thanks! Turned out it was the monitor's power cable. I switched monitors and problem gone :)
