Hi,

I am planning to build a gaming PC with the below config:

Intel core i5 4590
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI mobo (dual channel 4 x DDR3 DIMM)
G.Skill RIPJAWS F3-12800CL9D-8GBR (2x4GB will run at 1600 MHz) cas#9-9-9-24-2N
+others (GPU, PSU, etc)

And I also have a Transcend 4GB kit (2x2GB 1333 MHz) cas#7 which is sitting idle currently. So, if I add this two rams with the ripjaws will it work?? Will there be any performance upgrade?? Both are 1.50 volt.

Please help me understand! Apologies if I sound like a noob! Thanks.

Best,
Dollar

Adding the Transcend will provide more DRAM which may increase overall performance in some things, but as mentioned will probably only be able to run 1333 with all (and that's if the 2 sets will even play together. The RJs by themselves might well run 1866 at say 10-10-10-27 which would be a performance increase, slight, but an increase if the 4590's MC (memory controller) can carry them at 1866 (may need a bit of a DRAM and/or MC voltage increase

Okay! Can I OC the G.Skill kit to 1866 MHz? Will it increase any performance?
