Hello guys ,I recently bougth a used Afox RX 580 2048SP (8GB GDDR5) but it seems to be very limited, and I don't really know why. Here’s what’s happening:

GPU-Z of my GC

Symptoms

  • GPU-Z/HWInfo Data:
    • Core voltage (VDDC) drops to 0.794V idle, max 1.081V under load, should be around 1.15V I think.
    • Power draw caps at 35W-43W (expected: ~150W).
    • Clocks stuck at 300MHz (base: 1286MHz) but sometimes for a second jumps to 1000+ without reason, it just does.
    • PCIe link: x8 1.1 (sometimes jumps to x8 3.0, then back).
  • Temperatures abnormally low (35°C under load (15 minutes of Furmark running 1080p if it doesn't crash)), suggesting GPU isn’t working fully.
  • For some reason Furmark crashes and AMD Adrenalin gives me a warning

Troubleshooting Done

  1. Reinstalled drivers with DDU (AMD Adrenalin 25.8.1).
  2. Tested different computers(Mine: Asus PRIME A320M-K, Ryzen 5 3400G, PSU: Gigabyte P550SS 80+ Silver || My brother's: Asus A320M-H, Ryzen 5 2600, PSU: some Gigabyte 650W +80 Gold).
  3. Cleaned PCIe slot/contacts, reseated GPU.

Suspected Causes

  1. Mining BIOS: GPU is a used Afox model (likely reflashed).
    • BIOS version: 015.050.002.001.000000 (Device ID: 1002 6FDF).
  2. Hardware issue: Faulty VRMs or desoldered components from mining abuse(??).

Questions

  1. BIOS: Is this a mining BIOS? Can anyone recommend a stable OEM BIOS for this card?
  2. Voltage: Why is VDDC so low? Is this a BIOS limit or hardware failure?

If you need any more information I'll try to give it

Any help diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated

Gigabyte's P series PSU's are known as a disaster in the industry. You might want to specify the other Gigabyte PSU and the age for both PSU's. From my assumption, you might have PSU's that aren't considered PSU's, but a dumpster fire.

As for your query about the VBIOS, I came across these;
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/269196/269196
and they both have the same ID.

You might want to disassemble the card and inspect it but IMHO, you shouldn't have purchased that GPU to begin with, not in 2025.

Yea I really dont want to open it, luckily I bought it from a store and has warranty, so I'll just ask for something better and newer. I already showed them that it doesn't work properly so it was accepted, guess I learned my lesson and won't buy weird cheap things from now on hahah, thank you for your reply :)

Very well could be a bios issue, could pull up GPUz and see what it says there. Does the GPU show any error codes (like code 43) in device manager?

If it has warranty, bring it back, don't bother trying to fix it. RX580 2048ap is not a bad budget card if it were working properly, but it's dated at this point and won't run modern titles

I tried checking bios for any kind of hint of whats going on, even updated it to the newest version, but it didnt really help much. And I dont see any error code on device manager.

So yeah I'll just send it back and ask for another model, a newer one this time hehe
