If you find 60hz smooth which most do then the higher resoloution will look way nicer vs higher refresh rate and lower resoloution. I would go 1440p/60hz but thats me. Some people are used to 120-144hz and can't go back to 60hz, if youre not one of them the 60hz will feel fine but look was nicer

Its almost double the amount of pixels actually 1080p=2,073,600 1440p=3,686,400 with a differance of 1,612,800, too me thats worth the refresh rate loss
I will mostly be gaming and my GPU is a GTX 980 Ti. Thanks!
Hi Ethan Carlone,
Just like firo40 said, it's a matter of perspective. A 980 TI is not an overkill for 1080p eventhough a lot of people claim that. Some GPU-heavy games, like Witcher 3 and GTA V, benefit a lot from having a 980 TI.
I myself play games at 144hz/1080p. My GPU is a 980 TI, too. From what I can tell from my honest experiences, 144hz does make a huge difference on how smooth the gameplay feels. Playing Witcher 3 with everything maxed out (hairworks off) nets me about 75-82 fps. Outside gaming, ordinary office work also feels more fluid in terms of the mouse cursor with a 144hz panel.
Playing older games with a buttery smooth full 144 fps is a real treat, too.
