1440p 60hz or 144hz for a GTX 1080?

I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 and an i7 8700 and currently have 2 1080p 60hz monitors

I’d like to upgrade my main monitor to a 1440p monitor as I don’t think my 1080p is getting the best out of my GPU. But the big question is will 60hz be good enough or am I better off going for a 144hz? I am a gamer, however do not play FPS.

Depends on how much you want to spend. A gtx 1080 should be able to go above 60fps and hopefully near 144 at 1440p so if you got a 144hz monitor you will see an improvement from 60hz on most games that you play.
