I currently have a 60hz ips 1080p monitor and I was looking to upgrade because I recently tried a 144hz monitor and I liked it a lot for the games I play (rocket league and csgo). I get around 225 frames in rocket league at 1080p and 300 or so in csgo but I was wondering if it is worth getting 1440p instead of 1080p when I purchase my next monitor. How much would the performance decrease be in frames in rocket league? I dont run max settings because I dont like them that much but would I still be getting around 100+ with 1440p? I am going to upgrade to a 1070 strix OC in a couple months, but would it be worth the 144hz 1440p over 1080p? Also, if I got a 1440p monitor, would it be worth investing in a g-sync monitor so if I am not getting 144hz out of my 970 with 1440p it will look smoother? Thanks

In my opinion if you like it only because it's smooth as it's 144Hz then i suggest you to buy a 1080p 144Hz 1ms monitor (ASUS VG248QE for example) and with a single 1070 you will get much more FPS at 1080p than 1440p and with the rest of the money you can buy another 1070 and play newest games for more years or upgrade another part of your pc or whatever (the difference between the 1080p and the 1440p is about 400$).

first what cpu do you have?
assuming you have a good cpu a 970 will do 1440p mid settings smoothly or high at lower fps rates now a 1070 for new games is a perfect 1440p max 60hz card as its more powerful then basicly anything but the new titan and 1080 for 144hz 1440p on games like rocket league and csgo a 1070 or even a 970 will most likely do 144hz 1440p but on other games there is presently no single card that can do that untell we get more benchmarks on the new titan

but a 970 will be able to run 1440p 144hz at around 144 frames? or at least 120? at mid settings

maybe. quite demanding though. for older titles

I only play rocket league, csgo, and overwatch, with medium/high settings on all. I get 250+ in rl and csgo and I get around 135 in overwatch in ultra/epic settings. Do you think ill be able to get at least 100?

I think it can. What is your cpu? CS GO is a cpu intensive game
