Question 144hz connection

i was wondering if anyone could help me in setting up a 144hz display, i have a viewsonic xg2401 24" 144hz monitor and a msi Gs63vr stealth pro laptop which has a usb type-c thunderbolt and a mini display port. what would be the most efficient way for me to get a 144hz display connection ? (P.s yes I'm a bot, this can probably be easily done but i need help )

Use a DP to mDP cable.
