[SOLVED] 144hz moiniter not working?!?!?!?

So I got a pc for Christmas and I also received a 144hz monitor, I play games on my pc like Fortnite. Lately, I have realized I have not been playing on 144hz and NVIDIA control panel says I'm not but how do I fix this. I have a prebuilt novatech blizzard pc so please get back to me on an easy fix.

What monitor? Did you use display port to connect the monitor?

you'll have to change the settings in-game to run at 144mhz (1080p or 1440p). are you using the display cable that came with the monitor?

1.make sure you are using the DP which comes with the monitor
2.try to change Refresh rate through windows settings, i had the same problem and this step fixed it:
-Right click using mouse on the desktop and open display settings.
-Click on Advanced display settings below
- click on Display adapter properties for Diplay..
-a window should open , choose the second option( monitor on it and check the refresh rate , if there is a 144hz option click it and apply
