[SOLVED] 144hz monitor only showing up to 60hz

So, I had a 1050ti in my system and only ran at 60hz, recently upgraded to a radeon 6600 XT. However, the results are still the same. In display settings, it only goes up to 60 HZ still. Even in radeon software when creating a custom resolution, when I type 144hz and try to create it, it says not supported. The monitor I am running is a asus VG248QE. Please help I can not find anything on the internet that fixes this. Not sure what to do. Also looked in the monitor menu settings and couldn't find anything about the refresh rate. If anyone knows what to do, please let me know.

Does the cable have display port connector on both ends?
Could be DP-HDMI cable. This would also limit to 60Hz.
