i am having a really difficult time deciding what monitor to get. have a budget of $450, most good monitors are well out of this price range. i just bought a gtx 1070 and would like to get the best experience out of it. i play a wide range of games (fps, rpg, mmo,) i have narrowed it down to 3 monitors
Acer Predator XB241H bmipr: 1080p 144hz tn g-sync. also the only 144hz 1080p g-sync monitor i can find in 24"
Dell U2715H: 1440p 60hz ips
ASUS MX27AQ: also 1440p 60hz ips
all of these monitors are about the same price $400-450
personally even with g-sync $400 seams a little to much for a 1080p tn panel
but how much would the experience differ with out g-sync and almost half the fps in most games?also is ips such a huge jump from tn in color? is it worth giving up higher fps?
i am in the process of completely upgrading my system so my current monitor is a cheap 16" 720p ips that i have been using for a very long time, and anything at this point would be an upgrade

Unless you're looking for ultra low latency/input lag, 144Hz wont do much for you.
g-sync would only help, if your in-game fps drops/stays below 60.

ips still edge bleed, and normally have higher latency.
and even that i havent seen above monis in person, i would rather get an AMVA/VA panel over any of the ips i had in the past.
saturation/colors still very close to ips, but better blacks, no bleed.

I would look for a refurb/used one from A.
found one of the best screens asus pb328qc with 10bit AMVA+ panel, 1440p@60/75Hz. flicker free dimming, no ghosting, and almost perfectly calibrated by asus, so its even good for image/video editing.
used 400, instead of 700...

This is false, with a 144hz refresh rate g sync is effective up to 144 fps, not 60.

i ended up getting a Acer Predator XB241H bmipr 144hz g-sync monitor
its amazing i will never get a monitor that doesn't have 144hz again the 1ms response time is a HUGE improvement over wherever my laptop had and g-sync makes everything feel super smooth
the colors are way better than i was expecting(not ips good but great for gaming) the viewing angles are really good for a tn panel. also 24" is just right if i had a larger monitor i would have to start turning my head to see the corners
