Hello,

after having a new CPU installed a few months ago... I was always getting short temperature spikes from the CPU (while surfing the web) and the fans would be running loud to combat it. The CPU was just on factory settings, nothing was done to it as I was always planning to tweek it over the xmas holidays, (now)

I undervolted my CPU yesterday with Ryzen Master, using theis video....
View: https://youtu.be/8tZokHHQIOw?list=PLxyegY5k0-EcifJ_dzbSm4jgJSPa0voXG
... Upon downloading and trying to open Ryzen Master I got a problem but fixed it with the suggestion in this video...

and all was running well. While gaming, it was down 20 to 30 degrees and no spikes and screaming fans anymore.

I also installed this fan app
View: https://youtu.be/Uc16Ng6KkSY?list=PLxyegY5k0-EcifJ_dzbSm4jgJSPa0voXG
... and the both together were working fine.

Today I tweeked my GPU using this video...

and things really worked well.

Then today, I tried to open Ryzen Master and I got the warning again, (the video's fix was still in place) so I put it down to updating AMD adrenaline this morning. Anyway, with no way to access it, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Ryzen Master to gain access, but still the problem remained. After this the fans and CPU temperature went back to the old behaviour.

I then tried to enter the BIOS to undervolt the CPU without Ryzen Master, (as I can't access it anymore). .. That's when the fun started. My first 2 tries, pressing F2 didn't do anything, just stayed on a black screen... but I could get into desktop as normal when I restarted the PC. On the 4th attempt, it stopped even opening to the desktop.... Now I just have a black screen. (On the 3rd attempt, AMD adrenaline software wasn't showing the CPU's temperatures.)

I just turned off the PC in case of temperature dangers, etc... (Between all 4 attempts was a max of 10 mins... )

What has happened here... and how can it be fixed?

I've pressed the clear CMOS button on the motherboard but nothing changed. Perhaps I'm not doing it correct... or there's other procedures for rectifying this.

My system specs are in my signature...

To reset CMOS/BIOS all power to MB has to be off (Off switch on PSU or disconnect power cable) and depress start/ power button for few seconds to drain all capacitors. To completely reset CMOS, take CMOS battery for a minute. That would also reset clock.
If it still boots to windows, BOOT them to Safe mode and uninstall Ryzen Master otherwise it will force old settings again.
Best way to undervolt is to use negative CO (Curve Optimizer ) in BIOS, it works up to minus 30 and dynamically scales it. Use CO for all cores and both CCDs at first. If you want finer adjustments later on (after testing) you can adjust by CCD or even every core.

I'll give this a go, thanks.

My plan is to learn (Curve Optimizer ) in BIOS... I thought I'd play it safe (as a beginner) and do it with Ryzen Master first. That hasn't worked out too well for me.😆

I've got an image back and I'm in the BIOS. (Part of my problem was HMDI) Only after taking out and plugging in the HMDI did I get the image. I think the BIOS/desktop was there all along, as if there's a problem with the HMDi/GPU??

Anyway, I'm in the BIOS and everything is set back to zero. "System time"/"System date" etc... I ok'ed Load Optimized Defaults and now I guess I have to setup the bios again?

I can't see anywhere to do that... how's that done?

Start in PBO >AMD overclocking.

I've been running the PBO >AMD overclocking at -10 since Saturday... When gaming it's stays at a steady 70degrees👍... and when idle, it's at 30degress in the morning and 35 during the day with room temperature rise... but...

CPU temps aren't steady at idle. They can jump up momentarily to 50-60 or even 70degrees sometimes, when just surfing the web, (general light PC stuff). Is this normal? Or is this an indicator the PBO >AMD overclocking needs tweaked?

I looking more for overclocking advice, rather than cooling advice. I mentioned the temperature spikes, incase that told someone something and the overclocking settings.
Ryzen are temperature sensitive so cooling is intrinsic with any OC. The moment it reaches Tjmax(case) 90c, it will scale down boost, no matter what OC you attempt. Momentary mouse pointer freezes are due to CPU load which in turn causes temperature jumps.
In any case, don't use RM for OC, it's just SW that has own downfalls. Do it in BIOS directly.
