144hz vs 120hz

Hi, in the coming months, I will (hopefully) be upgrading my monitor. I was looking at some 144hz monitors, but they seem rather expensive, so what if I go with a 120hz monitor instead?

Whats the difference, price and quality?

What is your GPU at the moment?

144hz vs 120hz? Almost no difference in performance.
I would rather go for a 120hz with 1ms response time, good colors, etc; rather than a 144hz mediocre one especially if the 144hz is more expensive.

Honestly do you need something more than a 75hz for a GPU like that? It probably can't even hit 100fps on a lot of modern games.

I hit 80-90fps on some games (I've got an i5-4690 ruuning at 3.5GHz). I've noticed some tearing while I play DiRT rally, Next car game, Projects cars etc.
