I currently have an HP Pavilion 32" QHD monitor with display port input and 2560x1440 resolution that I use for Flight Simulation. It's a great monitor and I'm very happy with it, but I might like to go slightly larger in size, say around 34" to a maximum of about 36", but I just can't seem to find anything in this size range with a 16:9 screen format, everything is in 21:9 and most of these are curved, neither one of which appeals to me. The closest thing I have been able to find in 16:9 is a 43" LG, which is just too big for my purposes.

Does anyone know where I can find 16:9 monitors in the 34" to 36" range, or do they even exist..??

Any info is much appreciated.

Nothing in that size besides ultrawides, which tbh I would think would be perfect for flight sims as you'll get the extra peripheral view. If it was non curved would it be more appealing?

You could get a 34" 2560x1080P/75hz/IPS (better colors) non curved for $336 (US) or the 3440x1440 version for $588 if budget allows.

The only other option I can think of would be a 38"-40" HDTV but they may only come in either a lower res such as 1080P or higher as 4K.

Curved or non-curved really doesn't matter. With a 21:9 screen format yes, it's much wider, but at the expense of considerably less screen height. That might be great for first person shooter and arcade style games but it's no good for Flight simulation IMHO.

At this point I'm looking in to a 40" 4K TV as a possible option. Two things I need to nail down are optimal viewing distance and response (ie. lag) time, which I'm told can be an issue when using TV's as a PC monitor.

For sure, the one thing I don't want to sacrifice for more screen real estate is clarity and sharpness, which my current monitor provides in spades.

Thanks for the reply.

Rtings is really good for 4K HDTV reviews.

I got my TCL 49"/4K/HDR ($320 from BB) based off there professional reviews and I'm very happy with the gaming performance (PC/PS4) from it, especially input lag was really low for a HDTV. While I wouldn't go FPS for PC on any HDTV unless no other option it should be a good choice for your flight sims, especially if you have the hardware to run 4K.

Thanks for the link, i'll definitely check that out.

I'm running an i7 8700K and a Gigabyte 1080Ti with 11gb of DDR5 and 16gb of DDR4 3000mhz RAM so I presume I have the horsepower to run 4K.

Unfortunately none of the 4K TV's have display port inputs so I'll have to go back to HDMI.

Yea your system is perfect for 4K, that's the one thing that sucks about HDTV's is no DP but also going back to 60hz especially if you used to a higher refresh rate. I mean companies like Samsung have there higher refresh rate but it's more of FPS fillers in between the 60 FPS to make the image appear smoother (motion interpolation).

Concur with the TV, plus there are a few 40" 4k monitors available.

regarding 16:9 vs 21:9 - more screen area on the 16:9.
I wish we had 2:1 ratio. Its right in the middle. A 35" 2:1 would have the height of the 16:9 with the width of the 21:9.
Perfect ratio
