1600 Mhz DDR3 ram only show up as 1333Mhz on Bios

Hi guys, i am using 2 stick of Gkill DDR3 ram booth rated at 1600Mhz, they are not exactly the same model ( cause i bought them separately ). but when i installed both stick, one of them show up as 1333Mhz, the other is fine. i tried to turn on XPM profile but no changed.

you might try the 1333 MHz stick by itself to see if it will OC with XMP
if it doesn't, i'd run memtest+ on it

if it does OC, then the two sticks are not playing nice, ie whatever electrical values are too far apart

Hi, thanks. i tried to run with only the 1333Mhz stick, turn on overclock, but still get the same 1333Mhz like in the Bios picture.

i'm not ram literate enough to know, but your jedec values in #5 & #6 are different from the first stick

they're obviously not matched - two different part numbers. Did you make sure both sticks are on the asus QVL (qualified vendor list)? And frankly even if they are, they should at least be the same part number

they should be bought in matched sets - you can get lucky sometimes but need to stay with same mfgr and model #

Hi man, really appreciated your explaination, i can find the 1333Mhz on the QVL list but not the 1600Mhz , they are both from Gskill. but the one on the list is the one show up with 1333Mhz. wierd....

if they are not rated to work together on the same channel then can they be working in different channel? just newbie question LOL

just because a ram stick isn't listed on the QVL doesn't mean it won't work, but having two from different mfgrs and completely different values is fairly certain to not work. YOu'd be smart to sell those and buy a matched set, hopefully a part number that is on the QVL list

a matched set when you see two in a package, ie two 8GB sticks together - not just buying two of the same part number, ie single sticks
