Hello,

My 160Gb drive is showing as only 137Gb. I have a 7DXR motherboard and
when I flash the bios to F10, in the bios settings the drive is
recognised as 160Gb.

I am using Win2k and I know that you need Sp3 or later to use large
drives. I have downloaded and installed SP4 and visited 48lba.com and
downloaded their program to add the registry string but Windows
explorer with sp4 still says it is 137Gb. I have used Partition Magic
8 and that can only find 137 too. Why? I was expecting PM to say I had
a 137Gb partition and several Gb unused space. Why isn't it finding
it?

Thanks.

W2K and XP-Pro require a registry tweak to enable drives >137gb. I
downloaded big_drive_enabler.exe from Maxtor at
http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/big_drive_enabler.htm

It's been working fine for the one drive I have that is >137gb, recognizing
its full 160gb capacity. It's interesting that two years ago I had a 200gb
RAID0 setup (100gb x 2) on a PIII Win98SE system and the OS recognized the
whole enchilada with no registry tweaks. I don't quite understand that.
